Ayrton Senna’s Professional Advice for Acura

Ayrton SennaAyrton Senna was a Brazilian race car driver and winner of three Formula 1 World Championships. He is one of the most dominant and successful Formula 1 drivers of all time and one of the best driver’s in the sport’s history. Sadly, Senna died doing what he loved in 1994 while leading the San Marino Grad Prix. Before his fatal accident, Senna was able to give a little something special to Acura Engineers.

While perfecting Honda’s most exciting vehicle, the NSX, Acura engineers sought the opinion of Senna. At first, the New Sportscar eXperimental didn’t meet the standards of the top Formula 1 driver. He told Acura, “I’m not sure I can really give you appropriate advice on a mass-production car but I feel it’s a little fragile.” Senna’s opposition to the vehicle lead to a more balanced design with 50% more strength in the chassis.
